We use the term “low risk” roulette systems with caution, as there is always risk associated with roulette, however you play it of course. Remember, no system will ever change the fundamental odds you’ll get at a roulette table: there’s always a house edge.
OK, now we have the disclaimer out of the way, let’s move on shall we?
If you only want to make low-risk bets for a small amount of money, you can. If you want to chase larger returns, that’s also possible. Whichever online roulette strategy you adopt, make sure the size of your bets is small in comparison to your total bankroll. The different bets in roulette offer different payouts and probability of winning. The bets are divided into two groups of bets; high risk bets and low risk bets. The high risk bets are called inside bets and the low risk bets are called outside bets. Inside bets are made on a single number or a small group of numbers.
We define “low risk” or more accurately “lower risk” as those systems where the bets do not ramp up too quickly (unlike some Martingale Systems for instance), or where bets are hedged across more of the table (eg 1st and 3rd columns).

One of the great things about roulette, is that is has such a rich variety of bets that you can make on the table. The only games that comes close is craps. You’ll find all of the different bets in the menu -it’s always worth studying your options- you’ll get more out of the game.
People have been betting on the wheel for centuries, and there has been no shortage of players who reckon that they’ve found the key to winning, through a combination of different types of betting layouts.
In this section we are going to run through the different types of bets you can make, ranging from the basic “bet on the red or black” which everyone can understand, to the more complex and exotic call bets like “Voisins du Zero” (neighbours of zero) or the Jeu Zero bet, for example, which all the best roulette casinos should cater for.
Outside and Inside
There are 2 main types of roulette bet you can play, (if we ignore the call bets for a second). These are the Inside Bets and the Outside Bets- the names refer to where you place your chips at the table.
Inside bets
Straight Up: a bet on a single number. Place your chip in the middle of a number square. Pays 35:1. (You’d use this in the Pivot Roulette System, for example).
Split Bet: bet on 2 adjacent numbers either vertically or horizontally. Put your chip on the line between the 2 numbers. Pays 17:1.
Street Bet: bet on 3 numbers on one line across. Put your chip on the edge of the line at the end (either side). Pays 11.6:1
Corner or Square Bet: bet on 4 numbers in a square. Put your chip on the intersection of the lines between the numbers. Pays 8.5:1
Six Line Bet: 2 adjacent street bets. Put your chip where the 2 streets cross. Pays 5.33:1
Outside bets
Outside bets are generally lower risk bets with higher roulette odds BUT the payout is lower, and you may not be able to play these with your welcome bonus at some casinos. Many casinos categorise bets into low, medium and high risk depending on the table coverage. A bet on the red is normally considered medium risk. A bet on 2 columns would be considered low risk as you are covering almost two thirds of the table (remember there’s that pesky zero pocket (or pockets in American Roulette).
1 to 18: a low bet: on one of the first 18 numbers. Pays 1:1.
19 to 36: a high bet: one of the high 18 numbers. Pays 1:1.
Red or Black: a colour bet. Pays 1:1.
Even or Odd: another “even money” bet- you are predicting that an even or odd number will drop in. Pays 1:1.
Dozens: a bet on the 1st dozen (1-12), 2nd dozen (13-24), or 3rd dozen (25-36). Pays 2:1.
Column Bets: bet on 12 numbers in a column. Place the bet below the final number in the column. Pays 2:1.
Call Bets

There are also a number of more exotic bets that you can play in roulette, called “Call Bets” because you can call them out at many casinos and the croupier will place them for you. if you are playing online roulette, you´ll find most of them on the more advanced variants like Premier Roulette Diamond which includes options for the Roulette Snake Bet and Jeu Zero (Zero Game), for example.
